Deaf Adult Literacy Service (DALS) classes back for 2020
Just to let all our DALS students know that our Deaf Adult Literacy Service (DALS) classes are back again for the New Year after our break for Christmas and annual leave.

Classes will take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We are delighted that Veronica White will continue as the tutor for the remainder of this academic year. For more information on DALS classes in Irish Sign Language (ISL), check out: https://www.irishdeafsociety.ie/classes-for-deaf-adults.

iPhone and iPad classes (one to one)
Do you have an iPhone and or an iPad and would like to learn how to use it better? Then sign up for our one-to-one classes, which are open to deaf or hard of hearing service users.

These one-hour classes are provided by our manager, Willie White and have been very successful in the past. If you would like to learn more about how to operate your device, get in contact with us and we will arrange a time and day for your class.

The classes are held during office hours and are usually held on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursdays. In addition to one-to-one classes, we are also happy to update any apps and software on your device so you can get the best use out of your products.

Sign linguistics classes (Intermediate level)
Our sign language linguistic classes for existing students are starting back the 1st week of February. These classes are for our intermediate level students.

Classes will be tutored again by our manager, Willie White and will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. These classes will look at the finer details of sign language register, placement, role shift, classifiers and a range of other rich and complex features of sign language.

Translation of information and forms (into sign language or simplified English). Phonecalls (to/from external parties). Documents that need to be typed up. Referrals and/or enquiries on sign language interpreting access. Detailed queries on rights and entitlements. Confidential / complex / legal / sensitive enquiries.
