Thank you to Killarney church collection volunteers
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the volunteers who supported us with our Church collection in Killarney over the weekend. We are especially grateful with the cold weather we have been experiencing lately.
Our sincere thanks to all the parishioners who contributed to the collection from and around Muckross and Killarney town. We really appreciate your support. Special word of thanks to the Churches for allowing us fundraise outside their premises.
The money raised in Killarney supports our work with deaf, hard of hearing and deafened customers from the Killarney area who avail of our service in Tralee and via our outreach work in and around Killarney. Our outreach service there is generally carried out by our Manager with support from our staff. Therefore, we really appreciate the support of the local community as it enables us to expand our work with customers there.
Breakfast Club on Tuesday and Thursday mornings
In previous updates, we have mentioned that we are now registered with FoodCloud donations on a Monday and Wednesday evening from Dunnes Stores and Tesco Tralee. To ensure this food does not go to waste, customers call to our Centre on a Tuesday and Thursday mornings and can take items home with them free of charge.
Over the past few weeks, this has now developed into a Breakfast Club which we are delighted to see!! Customers who come in on those mornings (approx. 10.15am) have enjoyed a selection of bakery products, cereal, tea/coffee and toast at no cost to them. This is a great way of ensuring our FoodCloud donations are fully enjoyed by some of our regular customers. Our thanks to our staff and our regulars for supporting us with this new initiative.
Advance notice of annual leave / Christmas holidays
We wanted to give you all advanced notice of our annual leave/ Christmas holidays. This year we will close up at 1pm on Friday, the 21st if December 2019 and will re-open at 10am on Monday, the 7th of January 2020.

Foodcloud Donations - Dunnes Stores
A few months ago, we began accepting food donations from Tesco as part of the FoodCloud donation programme. Tesco food donations generally come in on a Wednesday evening and are available to our customers on a Thursday morning.
We are now accepting donations from Dunnes Stores on a Monday evening and this food will be available free of charge to any of our customers on a Tuesday morning.
If you would like to avail of any of these donations, drop in to our office on a Tuesday or Thursday morning/afternoon. Generally, the food is in good condition and comes from the bakery, salad or deli sections and is nearing its 'best before' or 'use by date'. Once it passes these dates, any left-over food will be used for composting or given to animal owners.
