23.11.15 Interpreting access for Doctor Appointments and at Kerry General Hospital. We have a GP Access Policy with the HSE (Health Service Executive) in Co. Kerry? This policy explains how an interpreter can be provided and paid by the HSE. The Kerry General Hospital will pay for the interpreter In-patient/Out-patient appointments in the Kerry General Hospital. 16.11.15 Volunteers required to gather spot prizes. We are looking for volunteers to assist us in obtaining spot prizes and donation for our Christmas Party. Our Centre will provide you with a letter that you can hand into local shops & businesses. 9.11.15 Sign language access at Cork city Christmas lights. Cork City Christmas Lights will be switched on Thursday the 19th November at 6.30pm outside Brown Thomas, Patrick Street, Cork. A Sign Language Interpreter will be present on stage. For more information »

2.11.15 Irish Deaf Society Santa fun run. 5km Santa Fun Run on Sunday, the 29th of November at 12noon in the Phoenix Park in Dublin for the Deaf community. 12.10.15 RTE documentary on St. Joseph's School for Deaf Boys. The programme looked at some of the positive aspects of being in a Deaf school where sign language and Deaf culture flourished for many years. The programme is suggested for a mature audience and is available for viewing online by going to the RTE Player. For more information »

5.10.15 Community Employment vacancy with our service. We will have a Community Employment (CE) vacancy in our Centre at the end of October. Interviews will be held in the coming weeks. 6.7.15 Cake sale and barbeque fun day. A barbeque and cake sale with games for all ages on Saturday 11th July at Deaf Village Ireland. This event is open to all ages. 8.6.15 Deaforward funding update. Elaine Grehan, from the Irish Deaf Society, has updated a video on Facebook concerning an update on Deaforward's funding. Last year they, and 23 other organisations, had their funding withdrawn. However, after much lobbying the government, they received a once off "bridging fund" which was due to expire on 30th June 2015. For more information »

25.5.15 Water conservation grant. They are asking all primary residences to register with them by 30th June 2015 so that householders can qualify for the Government's water conservation grant of €100 per year. The Department of Social Protection will be contacting those householders, in late August or September, who have registered with Irish Water by 30th June setting out the grant application and payment process for 2015. 19.1.15 New Sign Langauge Courses - Killarney & Tralee. Killarney: Tuesday 27th January from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. They will run for seven weeks and cost is €90. Tralee: September 2015 and usually run for 16 weeks. This is an accredited course with an exam at the end. For more information »
