22.7.13 President Obama appoints Deaf lawyer Claudia Gordon, a black deaf individual, to take over as an Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement. Gordon will be working as a liaison between the Obama Administration and the disability community. For more information »

15.7.13 112 emergency services text access Emergency services including the Garda Siochana, Ambulance Service, Fire Brigade and the Irish Coast Guard via text message has now been put on a permanent footing. 112 service also works in all EU countries. 7.1.13 Medisigns/EFLSI Conference - Interpreting In Healthcare. The seminar on the 1st and 2nd of March in Dublin, will present findings from a recent European Commission funded project, MEDISIGNS, and outlines some key training materials and resources available to support the training of interpreters (as well as healthcare professionals and members of the Deaf community) for work in healthcare.
